Karen Hutchinson stands again for       Great Lakes Council

Great Lakes councillor Karen Hutchinson will join a team of independents to contest the September local government elections. The independent ticket includes Great Lakes Council deputy mayor Jan McWilliams, youth worker Ted Bickford, business manager Brett Fitzsimmons and retired police officer Brian McIllvenna and Andrew Steell. The number of positions on Great Lakes Council will be reduced to nine at the September 13 local government elections.
Booral based Cr. Hutchinson says she will seek re-election in a bid to ensure the southern end of the shire continues to be represented, despite reducing councillor numbers. "I am concerned for the southern end of our Shire, we need representation. With this in mind I am honoured to say I have joined an independent team of community minded people to give me a real chance of success. Local government life can have it's ups and downs but I must say the last four years of my life have been a wonderful experience. I have projects not completed and look forward to another four years in local government to see them through. In saying that I will need the support of my local community to fulfil this dream" Cr. Hutchinson said.
